Creature Mag

One of my favourite magazines 'Creature Mag' has invited me to become a regular contributor to their Friday illustration slot called 'Happy Friday'. Every other week I submit an illustration based on this theme in any style I wish and they publish it on their web mag, so it's a great opportunity for me to really experiment!

A couple of weeks ago they also wrote a lovely feature about my work which you can read here: A Drawing A Day

So far I have submitted 'an insanely happy bunch of characters' which you can see in the link here: Happy Friday Drawing 1

The second illustration I submitted was a dreamy curvilinear couple of butterflies which you can see in the link here: Happy Friday Drawing 2

Here's a blog showing photos of me drawing the butterflies whilst on a sunny day out in Manchester: All Is Full Of Love

My next 'Happy Friday' illustration will go live on Friday 11th June on www.creaturemag.com

Amelia's Magazine

This is a post I should've written a couple of weeks ago but... this is an illustration I created recently for Amelia's Magazine which was included in the Behold The Cleggeron Riseth blog:

Imaginary Worlds

This is my first artwork submission for the next issue of 'Doodlezine':

The theme they have given is 'Imaginary Worlds' and I've decided to call my piece 'Antidotes'.

Pinder Postcard No. 8

Yesterday I bought some gorgeous Saunders Waterford hot press paper for a new project as I needed some really high quality paper for drawing. The pad comes in a block as it's rubber sealed around the edges to prevent the pages from buckling when you place a wash on the surface. This is working out great now, but when I tried to separate the two first top sheets I accidentally ripped a corner of each as you have to cut around the edge carefully with a knife. I've got the hang of it now but as I slightly damaged the first two sheets I decided to cut them up and turn them into postcards for this project as it's such lovely paper.

Here's the eighth postcard I've created which I'm sending to a gentleman in England:

All Is Full Of Love

Yesterday I went to Manchester to watch the amazing 3D film Alice in Wonderland and as it was such a sunny day I thought I'd do some drawing whilst there.

On the train journey there I drew some more of my Private Universe drawing:

I also started drawing another Pinder Postcard (which needs a bit of colour then it's finished):

When I got to Manchester I wandered round for a bit and found a pretty French styled cafe/restaurant near the cinema called Cafe Rouge. I found a good table outside and drew my Creature Mag illustration whilst drinking bubblegum flavoured wine.

A few photos of me drawing the butterflies:

Here's the finished version of the drawing:

Pinder Post

When your receive a Pinder Postcard from me could you please take a photograph or two of the postcard somewhere in your town/city/country which is significant to where you live/a place important to you which you love. Then could you please send me the photo or photos (high resolution if possible) so I can blog them, and possibly later print them depending on how this project develops? Thank you! :-)
